ABOUT US

East Lothian Roots and Fruits project (SCIO) aims to make fruit and vegetables affordable and accessible. To improve on current services, which tackle poverty and health in the East Lothian region.

The organisation currently carries out a wide range of services which include:

  • Weekly fruit & veg box deliveries
  • A delivery service to housebound, disabled and isolated people who are unable to access our food co-ops
  • A small community garden
  • Health promotion sessions

OUR ACTIVITIES

Mobile shop selling fresh produce to people in the communities of East Lothian, making fresh produce affordable and accessible.

bite and blether

Bite and a Blether lunch club.

Community garden

Small community garden. A place where people can come together to learn, meet others and reduce isolation.

Activities for children throughout the school holidays.

Supply of fruit to schools, nurseries, playgroups, after school clubs, community cafes etc for healthy snacks or for sale in tuck shops.

Community foodbank larder – giving the community direct access to the foodbank (self referral).

In partnership with “Walk with Scott” weekly walking group on Wednesdays. Starting from the East Lothian Roots & Fruits shop.

Red box project – free sanitary products for women and young girls.

WEEKLY FRUIT AND VEG BOX DELIVERY

Every Monday, we release a list of boxes for the week. We deliver boxes free of charge throughout East Lothian, a great offer!

You can choose from a £5 or £10 box, and add extras to your order like eggs, bread and juice.

You can also ask for additional items / state non required items. If we have your requests in stock we’ll add them to your order.
